Treo650+BluetoothDUN+Linux

I wrote and posted a new Guru Labs guide on using Linux (Fedora Core v4, though the directions are mostly agnostic to distro) with a Treo 650 upgraded with the newly released firmware that legally and offically enables Bluetooth Dialup Networking.

Credits must go to Stuart for getting this working first on his 64bit Ubuntu running laptop.

This is cool, but I wish someone would tell me what the secret is (aside from hacking the kernel code) to getting my Treo 650 to sync over USB using FC4, pilot-link, jpilot, kpilot, gnome-pilot, etc. It worked okay in FC3, but not in FC4.

I did order a USB-Bluetooth dongle tonight, though, in the hopes of doing syncs via bluetooth and playing with DUN, but if anyone has anything to share regarding the USB syncing, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks for posting your article on Treo650+BluetoothDUN+Linux

I have a Treo650 with Fedora 4 and a USB Bluetooth Dongle.

I have done everything you listed in your article, but I can't sync.

One thing I have noticed is this: My laptop is always listed as BlueZ on the Treo650 no matter what name I give it in hcid.conf. Its also always listed as an unknown type on the Treo. I have been able to pair with BlueZ, but the Hotsync setup does not see anything I think because it is not listed as a computer. I would appreciate any help. I have been working on this for days.

Thank you,
Gary
